Home Security and how you can deter potential criminals
It is true that some areas of the country are more susceptible to property crime and this can have a disastrous effect on our home's value. But there are ways that we can not only protect our homes and property but also make sure our home's value stays high despite a poor local crime rate.
Home security measures such as burglar alarms can help make your home more unattractive to thieves, by having visible indicators that your home is well protected it will make a potential thief think twice about trying their luck with your house and move on.
Burglar alarms
Burglar alarms are one of the first things a thief will look for, signified by a box high up on your house's exterior wall. The box alone is not a deterrent; many home owners have a burglar alarm but will not activate it every night. This could be out of laziness or because pets or young children may set the alarm off, there are alarm systems now that will make allowances for pets moving around, children should be made aware of what rooms they cannot go in until you deactivate the house alarm early in the morning.
Exterior security lights.
Thieves love the darkness, it allows them to enter your property without detection and make quick exits if they are disturbed. By having motion sensing lights outside your home, especially near doors and possible entry points if a thief tries to get near your home then the lights will turn on. This alerts both you in the house but also any passersby or neighbours that may be alerted by any activity near your house. It's worth having the light enclosed in some form of box or cage as some more dedicated thieves may try to break the glass or bulb to sabotage the light.
Gravel pathways
Again, another favourite of thieves along with darkness is silence. The thief doesn't want to make his or her presence known and so will be trying to make a quiet approach; gravel driveways are notoriously noisy when walked on. Having a gravel driveway is going to make any person's footsteps clearly audible and make a thief think twice before trying to go near your home.
CCTV cameras
CCTV cameras used to be only for the super rich and famous but these days more and more people are having CCTV cameras installed in their home to put thieves off but also providing vital evidence of anyone trying to break in to our homes or cars. Some homes even have dummy cameras which look like proper video cameras but only have a small battery operated LED to give the illusion of a real camera.
There are many different ways to make your home unattractive to thieves and if the thief is put off approaching your home then there's less chance of a break in, making your home safer to live in. Unfortunately, burglaries are common nowadays which safety an even more important factor when looking for a cheap conservatory .
You can also find cheap double glazing that is very secure and also saves you money on your energy bills each month.
